This instrument was conceived after hearing Nobuko Imai’s performance, with the wish to recreate that unforgettable sound.
Modeled after Andrea Guarneri’s 17th-century viola, it has been carefully adapted for ease of use by modern players. The body is slightly larger, but its proportions and string length provide comfortable handling, together with a sound of great warmth and projection.
Please note: the “Imai” Guarneri model featured here has already been sold. The next of the same design is scheduled for completion in February 2026 and will be offered through Shimamura Strings in Akihabara, Tokyo. Reservations for trial sessions are already open.
